Sarah and Jacob // Married Twice

Sarah and Jacob had planned to get married at Sarah’s childhood adventure playground in Mammoth Lakes, but with virus case-count rising and regulations ever-changing, she and Jacob made the call to downsize their celebration. They decided to split their celebration into two—one small civil ceremony with their friends in Walla Walla, and then one family ceremony/blessing in Sarah’s hometown of Sacramento—in her parents gorgeous backyard. I knew Sarah and Jacob’s celebration would be super special no matter where they ended up having it. These two humans exude warmth, creativity and care, and that pretty much sums up this little collection of moments! From Sarah’s mama’s garden in bloom, to the family dogs in handsome tuxedoes, to the hand-crafted lattes made to order by Sarah and Jacob for family—nothing wasn’t personal. :) One of my favorite moments was when Sarah’s dad showed up in the laminated neck tie that Sarah had made him in the second grade, crafted from construction paper and pictures of her six-year-old self. Too cute! Hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed making them!

Pulled off with ease and loveliness by Alluring Events. Fantastic florals by The Posh Posey.

When Sarah and Jacob made that decision to downsize their celebration sizes and have a small civil ceremony with their best friends in Walla Walla, I was unfortunately already booked for the date they’d chosen for that event. If anything, Covid-19 has taught us to embrace plan B. Sarah and Jacob didn’t hesitate a bit when I suggested that I could send an associate photographer in my place for the civil ceremony and then edit those images in with their other celebration to have a cohesive set. So grateful to the talented Kaila Homes for shooting the images below so we could have a complete story! So yes, technically married once and celebrated twice. <3 This was their first tiny ceremony where they made their marriage official. <3 Details planned by the bride and groom in the bride’s backyard. Florals by Sarah and friends <3. I’ve been wanting to put this blog post together for a while as an ode to all of the couples who managed to get married during a pandemic. Much smaller, yes. Simpler? Perhaps. But I say, don’t sacrifice special. The beginning of marriage deserves to be marked with special. If you’re looking to elope, or to celebrate small, there are a million creative and special ways to do this! I’m always up for a chat. (509) 520-5310. XO, Emily
